Al-Anon is a self-supporting program. Just as we learn to take responsibility for our own recovery rather than expecting others to our work for us, each group is urged to take responsibilty for its own well-being. Basic to this is to be financially self-supporting. Even the most well-meaning offers of monetary support from outside Al-Anon can adversely affect our groups. By taking care of our own needs, we can remain free from outside influence. Our finances have no strings attached. This allows our groups to be independent, and we benefit by seeing that we are capable of meeting our own needs.
